Quantic Dream released a ton of gameplay at this year’s E3 for their upcoming game, Detroit: Become Human. As a huge proponent for their previous game Heavy Rain, here is the latest trailer and my two cents on android revolutions.
“Some people are asking: have androids become a threat to our security?”
Last year, the game’s first trailer introduced a world where androids are the police force. It first introduces the dilemma of the game: androids being apathetic objects who take orders, and the main characters are trying to find reason.
This year’s trailer introduces Markus, an android planning a rebellion of his own to free his kind and “become their own masters”. Androids are both security and chaos.
We’re discovering our main characters, and it’s looking like they’re going to follow typical Quantic Dream format. 3 androids to play from so far, addressing qualms of the meaning of life. I’m hoping our storyline is on par or better than Heavy Rain, and hopefully this next game won’t be another Beyond: Two Souls. This game has a lot of potential by basing this in a real-life environment and trending topic in technology. Artificial intelligence rests in this gray area of good or bad, and I’m very interested in seeing how the game addresses it and what choices they provide.
Androids are serious… I guess that’s also why Google shut down their own.
