Shin Ryu Ga Gotoku & Ryu Ga Gotoku Online

With Tokyo Game Show 2017 happening this month 9/21 to 9/24, it’s more than likely we’ll get some more spicy Yakuza news. Hopefully some news regarding the series post Yakuza 6 as the latest installment is reportedly Kiryu’s last adventure. According to Yakuza Fan, two new games were teased by Sega: Shin Ryu Ga Gotoku (lit. New Yakuza) and Ryu Ga Gotoku Online (Yakuza Online).

Tentatively titled Shin Ryu ga Gotoku, it sounds like it’s going to be a PS4 exclusive title. Set in 2018, the story will focus on a new protagonist, Kasuga Ichiban, a former member of the Tojo clan’s Arakawa family who is released after 17 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, and now seeks to protect Kamurocho after the police and the Omi Alliance join forces. Not much is known about Kasuga outside of this simple description. Kasuga will indeed be replacing Kiryu but since this game is announced as a spinoff and not Yakuza 7, we may even get another protagonist to the main series that will replace Kiryu altogether (Shun Akiyama pls). All we know is, this is going to be a great addition to the Yakuza franchise.

Ryu ga Gotoku Online is an upcoming free to play spinoff coming to Android, iOS, and PC in 2018. The game will feature both Kazuma Kiryu and new protagonist Kasuga Ichiban. That’s all the info we have now on the game. No gameplay details or anything. Let’s hope TGS has more to tell.
